The Advent-Christmas season has begun! |
Advent means "coming" or "arrival" referring to Jesus's first coming and anticipating His second. The Advent season is a countdown to celebrating the birth of the Christ child, God's Son - Jesus.
The four Sundays before December 25th commemorate parts of Jesus's birth narrative using Advent candles which form the Advent wreath. These candles are:
- Prophet’s Candle (Hope);
- Bethlehem Candle (Peace);
- Shepherd’s Candle (Joy); and
- Angel’s Candle (Love).
The centre white candle is the Christ Candle lit on Christmas Day.
